Taco Boy’s- Taco Review - Tempe AZ

Taco Boy’s

On Rural North of Apache Blvd.

1015 S. Rural Rd, Tempe, AZ

My cousin Kelsee Recommended this one.  Thanks Kelsee! They have a location in Phoenix and the Tempe location is a newer one.  Great place, great atmosphere and busy.  Opens at 10am and people are outside waiting.

Everything for the most part just comes with meat on the tortilla and you can dress it how you please from their salsa bar, cilantro, onions, sauces, cabbage and so on.  I really liked that aspect of it.

The tortillas are not made in house.  They are made by a vendor, but made fresh daily.  The cashier, not sure who he is was very friendly with me asking him about the tortillas.  Not all the taco shops have been as friendly, they sometimes take great offense to being asked if they make them in house.  Taco Boy’s has some class.

I will work on asking it, as smoothly and nicely as possible.

Asada Corn & Flour Taco Review:

Appearance = 1.7 / 2 – Looked great

Tortilla = 1.7 / 2 – Both corn and flour are great.  The corn was double tortillas, but I was able to pull them a part without ruining the entire integrity of the taco.

Meat / filling = 1.7 / 2 – Asada, not dry, ate some by itself.  Just comes with asada.  Tasted great just asada, but then added cilantro, cabbage and sauce. Moved it up a notch.

Sauce = 1.7 / 2 – Green sauce, was my favorite, really added to the taco.  The red one is hot, great flavor.  The thick red-ish one, did not really notice anything flavor wise from it.  It is a pass for me.  The Avocado sauces was good too.  If I could only get one sauce it would be the green one.

Value = 1.7 / 2  $2.69 – With how much meat you get and how good the tortillas are, great value here.

Total Score  8.5 / 10

Vampiro Taco Review:

Appearance = 1.0 / 2 – Looked ok

Tortilla = 0.0 / 2 – Chewey!  Maybe because it is not cooked in lots of oil.  Not sure the reason, just did not like it.  Compared it to Unos Tacos Vampiro and there was not a comparison.  Both have great asada, just the way this one was cooked.

Meat / filling = 1.7 / 2 – Great Aada

Sauce = 1.7 / 2 – Green sauce, was my favorite, really added to the taco.  The red one is hot, great flavor.  The thick red-ish one, did not really notice anything flavor wise from it.  It is a pass for me.  The Avocado sauces was good too.  If I could only get one sauce it would be the green one.

Value = 0.0 / 2  $2.69 –

Total Score 4.4 / 10  - I would pass on this one.

Pastor Taco Review:

Appearance = 1.7 / 2 – Looked good

Tortilla = 1.7 / 2 – Great tortilla, tasted cooked and the right textures.

Meat / filling = 1.8 / 2 – It tasted different from other pastor I have had lately in a good way.  Seemed to have a little to heat to it.  Really enjoyed eating this one.

Value = 1.7 / 2  $2.69 –

Total Score 8.6  / 10  - Great Taco

I should have tried the chicken.  I got so annoyed with how awful the chicken was from Unos I did not order chicken here.  I will have to come back soon to try it.
