Easy Instant Pot Beef Tacos
This has turned into a family favorite. Sometimes our younger kids just eat the beef. We are using premade taco shells, but you can use soft tortillas, or make nachos whatever you want. If you don’t have an Instant Pot, just go get one. It will make your life so much easier. Sometimes we don’t have our whole lives planned out and decide what to have for dinner 30 minutes before we plan on eating. Can’t do that with a crock pot.
Ingredients:
½ sweet onion
1 TBLS of minced garlic
2lbs of ground hamburger (I used 90-10, use what you want)
1 TBLS chili powder
½ TBLS Ground Cumin
Salt & Pepper to taste
15oz can of Tomato Sauce
Bay leaf
Package of premade taco shells (your desired brand and quantity)
Shredded cheese
Taco sauce
Shredded lettuce
(Other taco toppings if so desired)
Directions:
Turn Instant Pot to Sauté
Add about 1 TBLS
Add ½ minced onion
Add 1 TBLS of minced garlic
Cooked until translucent
(Cooking onions first before beef to make the onions not visible to those picky eaters)
Add 2lbs of ground hamburger (I used 90-10, use what you want)
Start to brown meat
Add 1 TBLS chili powder
Add ½ TBLS Ground Cumin
Add Salt & Pepper to taste
Mix together finishing browning beef
After beef is browned add 15oz can of Tomato Sauce
Mix together
Add Bay leaf or 2 on top
Put Instant Pot lid on, with sealing
Push cancel, then manual, select 22 minutes
When finished, vent manually.
Remove Bay leaf
Put taco shells in preheated 350 degree oven for about 5 minutes (this step is important, unless you are ok with stale taco shells. For whatever reason all of these premade shells get much crispier being warmed up right before eating them. I bought all of these different brand shells and was going to do a tast test to which one was the best. Warming them up, solves any of that.)
