I have been wanting to go here for months. I saw they have a Chile Relleno Taco, and Chile Rellenos are one of my favorite foods of all time. I have had some burrito’s with Rellenos in them, and I was not impressed. One I did not even finish, that was before Gastric Sleeve surgery so that says a lot. So I wanted a Chile Relleno taco. It got me to drive over to Phoenix.
Appears to be a new restaurant. Location has great décor and employees were very helpful and friendly.
Crispy Taco Review:
Appearance = 1.5 / 2 – Looked a little beat up, but not awful. Looked like one of my kids pulled it out of the fryer pulling back half of a side of the folded shell. At home I would have just made a new one for myself and given it to one of our younger kids (Connor) that would just destroy the shell anyways.
Tortilla = 1.8 / 2 – Good crispyness! Crispy in all the good places. Did not matter how beat-up it was, the shell was excellent.
Meat / filling = 1.7 / 2 – The beef had good flavor and not dry. Just right!
Sauce = 1.6 / 2 – 3 sauces; Mild – Just perfect for me, good flavor; Medium Jalapeno – Had some heat, but really good flavor, worth a try; Hot – a little too hot for me, but tasted really good;
Value = 1.7 / 2 $3.89 – Overall it is a good taco for $3.89
Total Score 8.3 / 10
When I come back here I will still get another one of these even if I just have a couple of bites. Very good Crispy beef Taco.
Birria Taco Review:
Appearance = 1.7 / 2 – It looked excellent
Tortilla = 0 / 2 – Not crispy, really the tortilla did not taste good to me. Not sure if it was the texture, either way the taco did not really get eaten.
Meat / filling = 1.7 / 2 – The beef had good flavor and not dry. Just right!
Sauce = 1.0 / 2 – I did not get sauce Consome, so I took off points. I did not ask for it, and they did not ask me, either way I did not have any. It would not have made this taco crispy.
Value = 0.0 / 2 $3.89 – Definitely not worth the money. I just have some high standards to Birria Tacos.
Total Score 4.4 / 10
Chile Relleno Taco Review:
Appearance = 1.7 / 2 – It looked so beautiful. Picture perfect. Just like the IG pics.
Tortilla = 0 / 2 – It was as if the tortilla was raw, it just tasted like it was not cooked. Did not taste good.
Meat / filling = 0 / 2 – The Relleno, what the heck how could something so beautiful just taste so awful. Not much of this taco was eaten. Going through the relleno, the cheese was not even cooked inside the relleno. So not sure if they missed a step why the tortilla was not cooked either. Beautify is fine and all, but taste is way more important.
Sauce = 1.3 / 2 – Sauce on the Relleno was ok.
Value = 0.0 / 2 $4.39 – Very high priced for what I got.
Total Score 3 / 10
This taco is what got me to drive across town for. I definitely felt catfished. I never experience it, seeing how I have been married since 2004. Maybe it was a fluke and it just did not get put back in the oven or something.
JT Urban Carne Asada Taco Review:
Appearance = 1.8 / 2 – Wow wow wow!
Tortilla = 1.8 / 2 – the tortilla was perfect. Like it was not even in the same line of tortillas on the Birria or Chile Relleno taco. It was so good.
Meat / filling = 1.8 / 2 – The Carne Asada, wow! So good!
Sauce = 1.9 / 2 – The sauce that came in the taco had amazing flavor.
Value = 1.7 / 2 $4.39 – May seem high price, but the product is worth the coin.
Total Score 9 / 10
This taco is worth the drive over. Wow & wow. There was not any taco left, duh. So sometimes something gets your attention like the Chile Relleno, but it got me to try the JT Urban Carne Adada Taco. They have an Al Pastor one of these, I will have to try it next time. The casher told me I needed to try this one. Thanks for the suggestion.
