Burrito Express Taco Reviews

Burrito Express – Alma School & University Dr.

450 N Alma School, Mesa, AZ

I have not been here in 6 years or so.  I use to enjoy burritos here, the service got to where you would call in your order and go pickup it and still wait an hour.  So I stopped going, the burritos were good.  Just did not have the time or patience.  I heard from a friend they have a new manager and this location is running smoothly.  There are several other locations in the valley of Burrito Express.  I saw they had tacos and I wanted to try them.

Soft Beef Taco Review:

Appearance = 0 / 2 – I did not think it was the soft taco, it looked like a crispy taco.  All of the meat was dumped out, because it was on top or something.  It came as a empty shell with the filling on the side.  I walked with the bag from the counter to the table inside the restaurant.  So no, I did not shake it or drop the bag.

Tortilla = 0 / 2 – Also chewy applies here as well. Not good.

Meat / filling = 1 / 2 – Beef was good, but it was just weird with the lettuce on the bottom.

Sauce = 1.5 / 2 – Red sauce supper good.  Green pretty good.  Just the 2 sauce choices.

Value = 0 / 2  $2.53 – If the taco had been good super great price point.  However don’t get the tacos here.

Total Score 2.5  / 10

Hard Beef Taco Review:

Appearance = 0.5 / 2 – Looked like a premade shell and the lettuce was on the bottom and the beef was on top.  No super appealing.

Tortilla = 0.0 / 2 – Chewy, if there such a good thing as chewy, this is not it.

Meat / filling = 1 / 2 – Beef was good, but it was just weird with the lettuce on the bottom.

Sauce = 1.5 / 2 – Red sauce supper good.  Green pretty good.  Just the 2 sauce choices.

Value = 0.0 / 2  $ – 2.43 – If the taco had been good super great price point.  However don’t get the tacos here.

Total Score 3  / 10

Rolled Beef Taco Review:

Appearance = 1.0 / 2 – The rolled tacos looked ok.

Tortilla = 0.5 / 2 – Not great, tasted not as good as frozen ones from the store you put in the oven.

Meat / filling = 0.5 / 2 – Tasted like a process taquito, not one that was just rolled up.

Sauce = 0.5 / 2 – The green sauce, like Guacamole-ish was not the best.  It taste like it looks.

Value = 0 / 2  $3.76 – Way over priced for what you get.  Years ago I saw them pulled portion bags of rolled tacos out of the freezer by the fryer.  I assume they still do that.  Not sure if they make these in house and then freeze them.  I remember them being ok.  Guess I have higher standards then 6 years ago.

Total Score 2.5  / 10

It is not called Taco Express for a reason.
