They have locations in Phoenix, Mesa & Chandler.

I have heard good things, but have put it off for a while.  That was a mistake.  

 Gordita – Deshebrada Roja – Red Shredded Beef, potatoes & Beans Review: 








Appearance = 1.6 / 2 – It was not what I was expecting, but it looked ok

Tortilla = 1.6 / 2 – The tortilla/bread was pretty good.  Not what I was thinking.  It seemed very fresh and could have been eaten without the filling, that is how good it was.  

Meat / filling = 1.5 / 2 – Red beef, potatoes & beans with the red sauce that everything seemed to be mixed in.  It had good flavor.

Sauce = 1.6 / 2 – The red sauce reminded me or red sauce that is on beef in a tamale or even red enchilada sauce.  It was a good combination.  I did not add any taco sauce to this. 

Value = 1.6  / 2  $4 – It was a $1.25 more than the tacos here.  It is worth trying for sure.  Really different than a taco, but pretty good.  

Total Score  7.9 / 10  - I was so glad I tried this one.  Luckily the cashier told me to try this one.  My wife was not a fan.  So some people may not like it.  It was different and different can be good.  I think it is a must try here, so if you don’t get it, make sure someone with you gets it to try a bite.  Could be your next food love.   

 

Asada Taco Review: 



Appearance = 1.6 / 2 – All the red onions, were a turn off.  Also looked like less meat. 

Tortilla = 1.8 / 2 – Corn tortilla was so good, believe they make these in house.  Tasted cooked, not dry.  

Meat / filling = 1.6 / 2 – Asada, was good.  Above average of most asada tacos.  The red pickled onions, which I was disappointed in as far as appearance, ended up being so good.  Don’t let your eyes deceive you.  Be open minded, you don’t have to eat a 2nd bite if you don’t want to.

Sauce = 1.7 / 2 – 3 types of sauces, red hot, dark green & green.  Really good.

Value = 1.7 / 2  $2.75 – Great Value

Total Score 8.4  / 10  

 

Barbocoa Taco Review: 





Appearance = 1.7 / 2 – Above average looking

Tortilla = 1.8 / 2 – Corn tortilla was so good, believe they make these in house.  Tasted cooked, not dry.  

Meat / filling = 1.8 / 2 – Wow, wow, wow, to think I almost did not get this taco.  Barbocoa, so good!

Sauce = 1.7 / 2 – 3 types of sauces, red hot, dark green & green.  Really good.

Value = 1.8 / 2  $2.75 – Great Value

Total Score  8.8 / 10  - The cashier also told me to get this one.  




Asada Quesadilla – The wife got this one.  So good!  Had a few bites.  Too bad they don’t make a Barbocoa Quesadilla.  

 

Tacos Chiwas will be a regular taco place for me.  It did not disappoint.  Still lots of items I want to try here.  The Barbocoa was a winner here.  So good!  Great tortillas here.

Taco Boy’s On Rural North of Apache Blvd. 1015 S. Rural Rd, Tempe, AZ   My cousin Kelsee Recommended this one.  Thanks Kelsee! They have a location in Phoenix and the Tempe location is a newer one.  Great place, great atmosphere and busy.  Opens  at 10am  and people are outside waiting.   Everything for the most part just comes with meat on the tortilla and you can dress it how you please from their salsa bar, cilantro, onions, sauces, cabbage and so on.  I really liked that aspect of it.   The tortillas are not made in house.  They are made by a vendor, but made fresh daily.  The cashier, not sure who he is was very friendly with me asking him about the tortillas.  Not all the taco shops have been as friendly, they sometimes take great offense to being asked if they make them in house.  Taco Boy’s has some class.   I will work on asking it, as smoothly and nicely as ...

Biscuit Tacos

Biscuit Tacos Turned out so good.  I bought these taco molds from Amazon, seem to work pretty good.  Had a disaster with frying wonton wrappers, but that is a different story.   Take some buttermilk biscuits add flour and roll them out and thin as you can.  I would recommend rolled all of the ones you are going to cook at once.  I noticed the 2 I saved for later were harder to work with being out of the fridge and opened.   I put the rolled out biscuits in the taco molds.  I can imagine that you could use a wad of foil or something to make these.  I used the airfryer, for speed and I like how it cooks bread.  I cooked at 350 degrees for 7 minutes or so turning it 3 times. It may take longer depending on your airfyer or oven.   I made Pepper Gravy from Walmart or Sams.  It is pretty cheap and easy to make.  Don’t make gravy from scratch too much, because of this mix. Crumbl Cookie Review 01/18/22 week of  Jan 17-22   PEANUT BUTTER FT. REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUP Our signature peanut butter cookie topped with melty peanut butter chips and chopped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  This one the cookie was pretty peanut buttery and I liked it.  The reese’s toppings were great.   8/10   The Copycat recipe I feel tasted better than the actual crumbl. The Copycat was thinner and easier to eat chew and better texture.  Copycat recipe is from @Chahinex_tbt  https://lifestyleofafoodie.com/crumbl-peanut-butter-reeses-cookies/#recipe-link .     9/10   ROCKY ROAD A dark chocolate cookie stuffed with gooey marshmallow filling then covered in semi-sweet chocolate chips and almonds.
